STUDENTS at St Josephs Primary School in Port Macquarie were privileged to receive a visit from acclaimed Australian actor Jason Clarke.

Jason Clarke with TCL students Port MacqClarke, who has appeared in international hits including Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, The Great Gatsby, Zero Dark Thirty and The Chicago Code, had returned home to accept the Australian Actor of the Year Award.

Clarke took time out to visit Port Macquarie and his nephews Sam and Nick Kennedy who are students of the school.

Eight students who participated in the Trinity College London Speech and Drama exams held in Port Macquarie in November were given the opportunity to meet the actor.

The exams are an opportunity for speech and drama eisteddfod students across the Hastings to put their skills to the test. Distinctions were awarded to Astrid Fairhurst, Inez Vandejagt, Charlotte Schrader, Paige Wheeler, Conor Bann-Murray and Alexander Byrne. Credits were gained by Ella Shaw and Lachlan Wright.

St Josephs Primary School speech and drama coordinator Sandra Thompson said the Trinity results were a testament to her students’ hard work throughout the year.

“We take great pride in developing the students’ acting, communication and public speaking skills,” Mrs Thompson said.
