Music Diplomas

Trinity College London’s range of music diploma qualifications uniquely reflects the breadth of the professional music world.

Embracing all music styles and cultures including rock, jazz, popular and world music as well as the rich classical traditions, these qualifications provide sufficient variety and choice to appeal to all areas of the music profession.

The details of the suite of diplomas are split across two syllabuses which are available to download from the panel on the right:

Diplomas in Music: Theory and Composition

Trinity College London Diploma qualifications are available at three levels:

Associate (ATCL, AMusTCL)
The standard of performance is equivalent to the performance component of the first year in a full-time undergraduate course at a conservatoire or other higher education establishment.

Licentiate (LTCL, LMusTCL)
The standard of performance is equivalent to the performance component on completion of a full-time undergraduate course at a conservatoire or other higher education establishment.

Fellowship (FTCL) FMusTCL)
The standard of performance is equivalent to the performance component on completion of a full-time post-graduate course at a conservatoire or other higher education establishment.

The new 2019 Performance Diplomas syllabus is now available, featuring refreshed and extended repertoire lists, updated assessment criteria, revised written programme requirements, increased mark weighting for performance and new digital support resources.
The 2009-2018 syllabus is extended until 31 July 2019. The new syllabus will be used from 1 August 2019 onwards.
Please note that there will be no overlap between syllabuses, and all exams from 1 August 2019 onwards will follow the 2019 syllabus.
